Our Loopback Hoodie features a classic fit, double hood (to ensure no exposed lining), ribbed cuffs and front patch pocket. The 'loopback' fabric was originally developed for sports garments, wicking moisture from the body. Today we use it to trap warm air inside, providing an insulating layer.

The Loopback Sweatshirt
The Sunspel loopback sweatshirt is a modern take on an athletic classic. It was introduced in 2009 by our creative director at the time, Jonathan Anderson. He re-engineered the traditional sportswear design in a softer and more luxurious loopback fabric and perfected it with a clean, contemporary fit.
Originally designed as a practice jersey for American football players in the 1920s, the sweatshirt was lightweight and comfortable but warm enough to stop players cooling down too rapidly. As its name suggests, the traditional loopback fabric is made up of tiny loops of cotton on the reverse side, which provide a soft, cushiony layer of insulation while allowing freedom of movement on the field.
